How do I create a 4/2 Schedule?

This article walks you through building a 4/2 rotating schedule using the Monthly View, Staff View and the Copy Schedule tool.

1. Before You Begin

  1. Confirm that your schedule start date aligns with your payroll start date.
If unsure, check with HR or Accounting.

2. Build the Initial 6-Week Schedule in Monthly View

  1. Go to Monthly View.
  2. Select the first user you want to schedule.
  3. Add their shifts manually.
  4. Use Copy Single Shift for any repeating shifts.
  5. Continue adding or copying shifts until the full 4/2 pattern is created for that user.
  6. Repeat this process for all other users who follow the same schedule pattern.

Tip: Add all users’ schedules in Monthly View first—this saves time later.

3. Copy the 6-Week Block Forward

  1. Switch to Staff View.
  2. Navigate back to the start date where you first began scheduling in Monthly View.
  3. Click the Copy icon.
  4. Choose Custom.
  5. Select the 6-week date range you created.
    1. The next 6-week “Copy To” range will auto-populate starting the day after the end date.
  6. Under Copy Options:
    1. Enable: Copy User Schedule
    2. Disable: Merge Existing Schedule
  7. Click Copy.
