Converting scanned documents and pdfs into jpegs and pdfs is different on a Mac than on a PC. The terminology and process are slightly different.
Saving Documents and PDFs as JPEGs:
-
Open the Document or PDF: Locate the document or PDF file you want to convert to a JPEG image and open it using the appropriate application. For PDFs, you can use Preview, which is the default PDF viewer on macOS.
-
Export as JPEG: Once the document or PDF is open, go to the "File" menu and select "Export" or "Export as." In the export dialog box, choose "JPEG" as the file format.
-
Adjust Settings (Optional): Depending on the application you're using, you may have options to adjust the quality or resolution of the JPEG image. Make any desired adjustments and then click "Save" to export the file as a JPEG.
Saving Documents and PDFs as PNGs:
-
Open the Document or PDF: Similar to the JPEG conversion process, open the document or PDF file using the appropriate application.
-
Export as PNG: Go to the "File" menu and select "Export" or "Export as." In the export dialog box, choose "PNG" as the file format.
-
Adjust Settings (Optional): Some applications may allow you to adjust settings such as transparency or resolution for PNG export. Make any desired adjustments and then click "Save" to export the file as a PNG.
First, click File then click Export.
Adjust the quality of the image to best.
Choose the format you wish to use and click Save when finished.
Alternatively, if you're unable to export directly to JPEG or PNG from your application, you can take a screenshot of the document or PDF and then save it as a JPEG or PNG. To take a screenshot on a Mac, press Shift + Command + 4, then click and drag to select the area you want to capture. Release the mouse button to take the screenshot, and it will be saved as a PNG file on your desktop by default. You can then open the PNG file and convert it to a JPEG using Preview or another image editing application if needed.
